WWII, Cold War/Korean War and post-war training. Camp Breckinridge 1942-1962.
98th Division
1. On Friday, January 15, 1943, a presentation ceremony and dedication took place in Evansville, IN. The Army-Navy “E” award, excellence in gunnery, engineering and communications in war production, was presented to Servel, a manufacturer of wings for Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. Louis Ruthenburg, company president, in behalf of the men and women of Servel, accepts the “E” pennant, which is held by Geo. S. Jones, Jr., Loretta Green, Dorothy Coleman, and August Horstman.
2. While the 98th Division Band played a lively march, the Color Guard from Camp Breckinridge carried the colors to the flagstaff for the flag raising at the opening of the ceremony.
3. It is barely possible that the presence of the 98th Division Band of Camp Breckinridge might have been the cause of the large number of girls among the employee spectators at the right of the platform.
